7 Ways To Welcome Harmony Back into your Home

Our living spaces are home to many things and are often used as workplaces, yoga studios and much more, so, it’s no surprise that every now and then they need a little harmony restoring to them…but where should you start?
Well, small changes can make quite a difference and so it’s easier than you think. To help out, I’ve shared a few tips that always work for me. Please use the ones that feel right for you and I hope that they help to restore harmony back to your home in no time at all...

Create Routine
Creating daily routines, whether it’s your own morning ritual or a collective household routine helps to cultivate healthy habits and inspire a sense of safety and harmony within your home. If you have an existing routine, then take a minute to think about what’s working and what isn’t. Could you make any small changes to help them feel more enjoyable or efficient? Whether you’re starting a new routine or refreshing an existing one, remember to start small and make changes regularly until you’re happy with what you’ve created.

Clear Clutter
Clutter - whether well organised or not - is never going to help your home feel more harmonious and peaceful. It has to go. Being met regularly with piles of paper, messy cupboards or out-of-control wardrobes takes up precious mental energy and can have a negative effect on how you feel within your home. But, the good news is that it can be tackled. Don’t worry if there’s a lot to do, simply set aside time to regularly work through each area. Start with a place that feels easiest for you - I always find my wardrobe or the kitchen cupboards are best to tackle first. Just be sure to donate or recycle everything you can along the way.

Create a Tech Free Zone
This is one that you can get all the family involved in if you’d like. Encourage everyone to have a tech-free 30 minutes. Find the calmest place in your home to sit and simply enjoy some quiet time. It’s important that phones are left outside of the room because it’s been proven that even the sight of them is distracting. It’s especially helpful to incorporate this into your evening routine to help calm your mind before bed. Try making it the same time every day and light a calming natural candle to fill your room with a peaceful scent.  Enjoying these quiet moments not only creates harmony in your home but can help to strengthen and rebuild deeper connections with those you love.

Share Positivity
Take your favourite quotes or affirmations and turn them into pieces that you can frame or perhaps even write them as notes and pin them to your mirror. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Surrounding yourself with positive words and quotes helps to lighten everyone’s mood and creates a light and more harmonious feeling in your home.

Cleanse Energy
Sometimes the energy in your home just feels out of balance, doesn’t it? You can’t always find a reason for it but you know something doesn’t feel right. It’s possible that the energy in your home has just collected over time and is starting to feel a little stagnant. Or maybe you’ve been through a time of change and the emotional discord has taken its toll. Either way, you’re ready for a change...and a good cleanse. I love to use white sage to regularly cleanse my home and keep the energy feeling positive. If you’ve never energetically cleansed your home before then take a look at our Home Cleansing Ritual Kit - it contains everything you need (including a step-by-step guide) to help you remove stagnant energy and restore harmony to your home.

Eat Together
Creating time to share meals together cultivates connection and communication. Together you can enjoy your food, share the highlights of your day or even talk through any concerns. Experts agree that taking this time can have positive benefits for our children including balanced body weight and increased self-esteem. If it’s a challenge to match everyone’s schedule for a daily family meal then try to do it once a week - maybe on the weekends when you could share a slower-paced breakfast or lunch together as a family. Encourage everyone to turn off TV’s and phones and have a little patience while you adapt to a new mealtime routine. Remember, it doesn’t have to be perfect to make a difference.

Aromatherapy
We all love a warm welcoming home that smells good, don’t we? But there’s quite a debate about the safety of the products that we use to scent our homes. Personally, I like to keep everything as natural as possible and I’m sure to avoid any artificial fragrances or paraffin candles in my home. Using natural aromatherapy products can help all the family find peaceful moments too - often without them realising it.

I hope that you’ve enjoyed these simple tips and feel inspired to take action on at least one thing today that will help to restore harmony back to your home.
